Sunderland Volunteer Life Brigade Museum
Come and discover the history of life-saving on the coast of Sunderland since 1877.
Situated on the seafront in the working headquarters of the Sunderland Volunteer Life Brigade Search and Coastal Rescue, this small museum tells the full story of over 100 years of lifesaving in Sunderland.
The museum records the saving of 796 lives and displays memorabilia of ships which have been subject to rescues, along with pictures of the immediate riverside.
The museum also houses the Sunderland VLB Coastal Search and Cliff Rescue Team along with Sunderland Coastwatch.
